Civil Ceremonies
Getting Married at Soughton Hall
Soughton Hall is an Approved Premises for civil wedding ceremonies in Flintshire and you can be married here irrespective of your home address. As soon as you've worked out a suitable date for your marriage, you should speak to our local Register Office which is based in Mold, on 01352 703333 to confirm they are available and agree a ceremony time. You should then contact your local Register Office (i.e. the one covering the area where you live) and arrange for you and your partner to give Notice of Marriage. You must reside in a district for at least 7 days before giving Notice and you must apply in person.
Documents required for Notice of Marriage:
- Passport, Birth Certificate and some other document showing your address.
- If you are divorced, your Decree Absolute bearing the court's original stamp.
- If you are widowed, the death certificate of your original spouse.
- If you have formally change your name, your Deed Poll of Statutory Declaration document.
- The current fee.
Your marriage may take place within 12 months of giving notice after a clear period of 15 days has elapsed. Your local Register Office will provide you with an Authority to be Married and inform Mold Register Office. Mold will then send a letter confirming your booked date and time and invite you to arrange an appointment to visit them and discuss the form of the ceremony.
You must be at least 16 years of age and if you are less than 18 years of age you will need the consent of your parent(s) or guardian before you can be married.
The Ceremony
You are welcome to enhance the ceremony with a range of readings and music. The Registrar can also conduct the ceremony in English, Welsh or Bilingually.
Fees (from 1/6/05)
- £30 per person to issue Notice of Marriage.
- Wedding Ceremony: £195 for a weekday, £235 for a Saturday or £275 for a Sunday or Bank Holiday.
- £3.50 for a Wedding Certificate.
These prices are reviewed annually and are liable to change.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF £250 FOR USE OF SOUGHTON HALL TO HOST A CIVIL WEDDING CEREMONY.
